You're not the first requesting this feature and I think the plugin-API could be perfectly used for this. There will be hooks for user and identities creation. Somebody already started to create a generic LDAP class which can then be used for both contacts and identities retrieval: http://lists.roundcube.net/mail-archive/dev/2008-10/0000135.html The plugin-API isn't ready yet but it's the next big feature we're working on.
