Those namespaces are not (necessarily) accessible to readdir(), because they don't exist as filesystem objects. That's why they have their own _unlink() functions too.

you should at least be NICE and first kill with a SIGINT ... and wait a
bit for them to exit. if they are still around after a few seconds (lets
say 5) then SIGKILL them. sigkilling out of the box is just rude. :)

That's what we do, but it won't guarantee that they'd obey it or do clean exit (ever).
