Why? That's where it's most needed. Why do you think some LFS wouldn't be suitable? In many cases you also get checksumming support to detect bitrot. Could be especially useful in IVI systems and other uses where environment is harsh and typical device lifetime is long.

(ZFS is now also available on Linux, but AFAIK is not yet part of the kernel)

This is especially essential ingredient if you want to have fast recovery from unexpected power loss which is particularly important area for embedded systems. With LFS it is immediate, unlike filesystems where journal replay needs to take place.
