Hi all,

I want to share with you the current status of New WiFi/Network framework (WiNet) implementation in Tizen 3.

Connman patches implementing the requirements specified for the first phase of multi-user support in WINET (see https://wiki.tizen.org/wiki/Multi-user_WINET) have been reviewed and verified.
We expect that they will be merged soon.

Once this will be done, to enable the integration of WiNet in Tizen Common the following issues must be fixed:

 * TC-2060 <https://bugs.tizen.org/jira/browse/TC-2060> (Connection
   CAPI must be adapted to use WINET)
   This is mandatory to replace net-config by WiNet as currently this
   CAPI, and so download provider, depends on net-config (see TC-1459
   <https://bugs.tizen.org/jira/browse/TC-1459>).
 * TC-2053 <https://bugs.tizen.org/jira/browse/TC-2053> winet service
   daemon runs as a root process
   I pushed a patch to execute this service as user wifi:
   https://review.tizen.org/gerrit/#/c/30311/
 * TC-2067 <https://bugs.tizen.org/jira/browse/TC-2067> User cannot
   connect to a service using capi-wifi-test if this service is
   favorite service of another user
   That is if UserA connects to service S, then disconnect from this
   service, UserB can connect to this service S only if UserA requested
   to forget this service after it disconnect from it.

There is another issue but its fix is not mandatory for integration of WINET in Tizen 3:

 * TC-2038 <https://bugs.tizen.org/jira/browse/TC-2038> Connman save
   wifi credentials in clear in sub-directory of /var/lib/connman

This issue has low priority and we can wait until it is fixed upstream.

Thanks to people in CC the target to use WiNet in Tizen 3.0 Common 2014.Q4 shoul be achieved.

Regards,

Nicolas
