Thank you for the suggestion. I tried to install gbs using several archive repositories (14.03, 14.02.3, and 14.01.1) on my 64-bit Ubuntu 14.04. However, each time I did apt-get update and then install gbs, apt-get still crashed as I described in my first email in this thread.
