Hi Boram,

Good to know that you have interest into this.

        Hi wayland and weston guys

Last spring, I and Eurogiciel had upgraded wayland to 1.7.0.
Now I have plan to upgrade wayland to upper version(1.8.0 or
        1.9.0).

QtWayland supports 1.8.0 , unsure about 1.9.0 , need to check it

Before doing that, I'd like to check two things.

        - Is it fine to upgrade wayland only?

It's ok for me make sure all downstream patches will apply too

        - Is there someone who can upgrade qtwayland to 5.5.1 for
        upgrading weston to 1.8.0?

I think I am granted to but , Let's see what is the plan with qt4tizen , Tom ? ..

IMHO, It would make sense to maintain upcoming Qt LTS version 5.6

Because It has my changes in , then no need to maintain xdg-shell support tizen side.:

It looks wayland can be upgraded without any other modules
        upgrade.

We could try that

To upgrade weston also, I guess we should upgrade qtwayland
together. qtwayland now uses weston 1.6.0 xdg-shell.xml.

maybe we could try that into the devel project of OBS 1st ?
And wait Tizen:Common to be released again in continuous integration mode ?
Tizen:Common doesn't create a binary image and accepts any submits from samsung now. I doubt if upgrade work can be done in Tizen:Common.
Currently I'm only watching tv/mobile/wearable profile.

But upstream qtwayland uses weston 1.8.0 xdg-shell.xml.
If someone can upgrade qtwayland to 5.5.1, then I think we can
upgrade wayland to 1.9.0(also 18.0 possible) and weston to 1.8.0.

Since you're investigated this maybe you can share branches in sandbox ... and file a report to track this transition.
then I will be be granted to submit them ? is it a good plan ?
(but I would prefer to wait a Tizen:Common continuous releases to be back)
I have already done wayland and weston :) You can find it in sandbox/boram/wayland180 and sandbox/boram/weston180 branch. And I open a ticket for this work. https://bugs.tizen.org/jira/browse/TC-2537. When qtwayland is ready, we can do group submission by using the same tag (https://source.tizen.org/documentation/developer-guide/getting-started-guide/contributing-code-tizen).

I realize that dev and 5.6 branch of qtwayland which are still in
developing status have weston 1.8.0 xdg-shell.xml.

That version has been released :
http://code.qt.io/cgit/qt/qtwayland.git/tag/?h=v5.6.0-alpha1
If v5.6.0-alpha1 can be merged, it will be good.

Instead of upgrading qtwayland, maybe it can be alternative to
cherry-pick the below commit only from qtwayland dev branch to
    tizen branch.

    commit c6dc4f473518d4a739445a66858115309507797e

IIRC, it would not apply without some adaptation.

Hope this help, Regards
