We need a Java 9 Epic. Currently I have StackWalker, Java 9 modules and support
for Java 9's enhanced Clock as candidates for inclusion. As part of my work on
StackWalker, which I will be committing shortly, we have a way to include all
this as part of the standard log4j-core jar, but we may want to enhance our
plugin support to be able to choose between different plugin instances.

> There is interest in a {{%pid}} pattern converter that shows the operating
> system process ID in the log. Java 9 will provide an official API for this,
> when running on an older version of Java, a best-effort approach that works
> on most platforms is still useful if the limitations are clearly documented.
