The liquibase module is for setting up liquibase to use log4j2 (it has a strange logging configuration system). It doesn't log *to* anything specifically.
I agree that the lucene one belongs with the nosql appenders, though I also think that each plugin that requires dependencies to function might belong in their own modules for ease of use with users. That's the general idea I had when I started playing around with the Log4j Boot concept.
