I think it's best to multitarget the test project. In Visual Studio only the
{{netcoreapp2.0}} code will run, i.e. only the {{netstandard2.0}} build will be
tested, but it's possible to test against either build with the dotnet CLI. I
made the necessary changes on [my
fork|https://github.com/chlowell/logging-log4net/commits/netstandard-testing].
