+1 We should strive to think and talk in terms of improvements. As it relates to field collapsing, some of the existing patches were simply too big for me to get my arms around. I personally needed to start smaller to really understand it all, and then build from there. There were a lot of great ideas over the years, and hopefully much of those will find their way into trunk eventually.
