Mark Miller commented on SOLR-5813:
-----------------------------------

I was looking at a slightly older version of Solr and I think part of this
issue was already addressed (though SOLR-5811 could also improve the behaviour
here).

For some reason, previously, it seems that a collection name of "" would end up
as a valid name, and now it gets treated as no collection and you get the
default core name for the collection as if it was null.

Anyway, I've added a couple tests for null or "" collection names and will dig
around a bit more.

> Creating a SolrCore with a collection name of empty string should fail nicely
> in SolrCloud mode.
