Maybe I am operating based on a misunderstanding, but isn't it the case that
each field/term/position/document combination adds a posting to the index? I
do like the idea of a generic "preserve original" filter that can work with any
filter/combination of filters, since I agree it's silly to duplicate this logic
for every filter. How would you see that working?
