Jason Gerlowski commented on LUCENE-5932:
-----------------------------------------

This looks related to Lucene 3120
(https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LUCENE-3120) to me.

There was also a recent thread on the mailing list related to the semantics of
SpanNearOrdered/SpanNearUnordered too:
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/lucene/java-dev/243446.

> SpanNearUnordered duplicate term counts itself as a match

> An unordered span near with the exact same term will count the first position
> as a match for the second term.
> A document with values: "w1 w2 w3 w4 w5"
> Query hit: spanNear([w1, w1], 1, false) -- SpanNearUnordered
> Query miss: spanNear([w1, w1], 1, true) -- SpanNearOrdered (expected)
