[~rjernst], looks like you've got some unrelated changes in the patch:
lucene/CHANGES.txt, solr/CHANGES.txt,
lucene/backward-codecs/src/test/org/apache/lucene/index/TestBackwardsCompatibility.java,
etc.
I'll see if I can figure out what doesn't belong and revert those locally.
