I would do the following on the Solr's notes top:
1) Usability improvements
2) Distributed IDF
3) No war (though we do ship one anyway....)
4) SolrJ support for collection
5) Stats component
6) New handlers/API all together as a block
The rest.

Just a weak opinion though.
