I'm pointing out the possible issues and why my gut fee was to not encourage 
the use of this API.  The answer is to develop a solid API if we want this 
feature.

Another big issue off the top of my head (that would be much harder to catch 
via testing):
A different searcher may be used by the sub-request than is used by the parent 
request.  That's going to cause all sorts of problems.
Also less likely, the schema can change and be different from parent to sub 
request.
There's also the question of lost "context", and anything that may use that (I 
see you use that to only do useParams once, for example.  is that OK to do 
again?)
