heh - yeah, that's my bad ... I think I had that in there at one point when I
was dealing with the perf improvements but it didn't actually help or at least
I had other changes that masked it's benefit. I'll revisit that idea ... for
now, the comment is misleading and should be removed. Sorry 'bout that!
