Hi,
Java 9 is not yet released so we cannot make a statement about supporting it… Especially as the latest preview build does not work at all :). But once it is out we will add a similar statement. At the moment, Java 8 is the minimum requirement and it is also the recommended one for Lucene 6. Could somebody remind me, which Java release will be recommended and which releases will be supported for the upcoming Lucene/Solr 6.0 release? I mean, will it remain the same or change from the 5.5 system requirements page: http://lucene.apache.org/core/5_5_0/SYSTEM_REQUIREMENTS.html "Apache Lucene runs of Java 7 or greater, Java 8 is verified to be compatible and may bring some performance improvements." I wasn't sure where Java 9 is these days. Some statement on it seems warranted, otherwise "7 or greater" implies that 9 is fine. -- Jack Krupansky
