look at the secondary logic that handles this case, which is "minXEdges..." 
output above.
(2) There are no direct intersections with the world for the minX, maxX, and 
minY planes.  The other planes have intersections, typically two, but the maxY 
intersection has four.
(3) The XYZSolid is a thin horizontal slice, unbounded on all sides except maxY.

As before stated, it is possible that the point is in the shape AND in the 
xyzsolid BUT there is no intersection between the two.  Since this is a 
polygon, I can verify that setup by simply projecting the point onto the 
surface by scaling its x,y,z values.  If the point is then within the shape but 
NOT within the XYZSolid, then we've verified the scenario I've described.
