The "Matcher" proposal happened back in January 2009 on the lucy-dev list. I posted a link to it on [email protected] at the time. http://lucene.markmail.org/thread/jxshhiqr6wvq77xu At least, that's the Matcher proposal I remember. :) We ultimately did replace Scorer with Matcher in Lucy. Other pieces of that proposal have found their way into Lucene, e.g. not calculating score prior to hit collection.
