Not at my computer right now so can't be too specific but setting JAVA_HOME is not good enough. You need to run some script from Oracle to make this java version the default for your OS. A quick search found this for java 7: http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/webnotes/install/mac/mac-jdk.html I remember doing something similar for java 8.
