Erick Erickson created SOLR-9719:
------------------------------------
Summary: Admin UI: When reporting errors on core startup, also
show the path to the Solr log file
Key: SOLR-9719
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-9719
Project: Solr
Issue Type: Improvement
Security Level: Public (Default Security Level. Issues are Public)
Affects Versions: 6.3, trunk
Reporter: Erick Erickson
Priority: Minor
Minor, but also easy. When a core fails to load, the admin UI puts up a big red
error box with messages like "core collection_shard1_replica1 failed to load"
Then at the bottom something like:
look at the log file for additional information.
The trouble is that the operations folks who have to respond to this aren't
always the ones who, say, configured the log file location in log4j. Printing
the path to the log file directory would help.
