Aurélien Pereira commented on SOLR-9882:
----------------------------------------
We are also hitting this error in 6.4.0
In our case : a long request with timeAllowed and a specific filter query and
we are hitting the error constantly
Our filter is a pretty standard one but with lots of unique values. The field
represents clothing size (X, XL...) on all possible product (shoes, dress,
jean, underwear, helmet, jewelry...). It contains 2700 unique values.
It's a multivalued string field : <field name="size" type="string"
docValues="true" multiValued="true" indexed="false" stored="true"/>
We have 30 millions documents and 1/3 with this field set. Each document have
between 1 et 141 (!) differents values for this field (min&max). Average is 2
values per document.
Here what we found when analyzing queries that are in status=500 with this cast
exception. (cases below apply on same base query)
* Query with timeAllowed, facet size & fq on size, timeAllowed reached :
Status=500 with this error
* Query with timeAllowed & facet size without fq on size, timeAllowed reached
: OK
* Query with timeAllowed & fq on size without facet size, timeAllowed reached
: OK
* Query without timeAllowed (or bigger timeAllowed never reached) but with
facet size & fq on size : OK
Usage :
Facet : facet.field={!ex=size}size
Filter Query : {!tag=size}(size:41)
Our production in solr 4.10.4 with the same queries doesn't have this issue.
Our case might be extreme but it might help you test this.
