Changing the Redirect rule in {{.htaccess}} as Steve suggested fixed the
problem.
I also verified that an URL like {{https://lucene.apache.org/java}}, which is
what the rule was intended for, properly redirects to
{{https://lucene.apache.org/core/}}.
