allthough it seems counterintuative to randomize points in this config + test,
I think it's a worth while endeavour since it will help us validate that points
and trie fields behave the same.
The test itself makes very little assumptions about the nature of The Trie
fields -- so we shouldn't need any/many changes or special handling
