Erick Erickson resolved SOLR-11434.

Resolution: Information Provided
It's completely unlikely that any changes will be made to the 4.x code line. Or
the 5x code line for that matter. And even 6.x is only going to be patched for
super-critical bugs.
If this is still a problem for 6.6.1 and/or 7.x, we can reopen this JIRA.
