I've resolved this even though we didn't update the examples to JSON. We could 
just as easily reopen and leave it open until that's done, but that's up to you 
[~gerlowskija] if you think you will have time to work on it (personally, I'll 
probably only have time on an ad-hoc basis so might mix those into other 
commits).
