[~ivera], basically all you did was get rid of the backing plane that I added 
to deal with the situation where the circle becomes concave.  I honestly don't 
know how that could work.  Otherwise it looks identical (functionally) to the 
existing code.  Why do you think the backing plane was unnecessary?
