Actually, GitHub renders Asciidoc right in the source browse, e.g.: 
[https://github.com/apache/lucene-solr/blob/master/solr/solr-ref-guide/src/about-filters.adoc]

It is not perfect (e.g. not resolving the imports) and does not help with 
built-output, but it may be ok as a public preview.

There is also an option of using something like 
[Netlify|https://www.netlify.com/] which does support Jekyll and allows to 
build from a repo, but it needs to be setup/configured right. A separate 
project.
