Because that's how I understand the Storage Gateway. I might miss something,
but for me it's a VM which [one run on
EC2|https://aws.amazon.com/premiumsupport/knowledge-center/file-gateway-ec2/]
(or on-prem, but it's irrelevant for the subj).
