Also, you _must_ reindex all documents from scratch when you make changes like 
this to get valid results. If at all possible, try with a new _collection_.

docValues="true" indexed="false" is analogous to a "table scan" in database 
terms. As Yonik says, docValues="true" indexed="true" should be fast.
