Hi,
+1
P.S. May I suggest to add short instructions to the vote mail how to test
the new release in your application.
E.g. for applications using Maven one needs to add the following to pom.xml
and to change the dependencies version to 8.1.1:
<repositories>
<repository>
<id>Apache Lucene</id>
<url>
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/lucene/lucene-solr-8.1.1-RC1-revfcbe46c28cef11bc058779afba09521de1b19bef/lucene/maven/
</url>
<releases><enabled>true</enabled></releases>
<snapshots><enabled>false</enabled></snapshots>
</repository>
</repositories>
And similar for Gradle.
I hope that this way more Lucene/Solr users (i.e. non-committers) can help
testing the release.
Regards,
Martin
