*My name is Ankit Jain, and I am a Software Engineer on the Amazon OpenSearch Service team. I’ve been with the OpenSearch (previously known as Elasticsearch) service at AWS for over 10 years, focusing on building and optimizing search infrastructure at scale. I currently lead efforts around performance and core system improvements, and have had the opportunity to work on some interesting challenges in large-scale OpenSearch deployments—especially around debugging and tuning in real-world environments.* *I'm an active maintainer of the OpenSearch project and a regular contributor to Apache Lucene. The Lucene community is full of incredibly talented and experienced engineers, and I’ve been lucky to contribute in a small way over the years. One piece of work that some might recognize is FST Offheap <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LUCENE-8635> a few years ago, which enabled remote search features like Ultrawarm.* *Outside of work, I’m a big sports enthusiast—equally enthusiastic whether I’m cheering from the couch or missing easy shots on the court. I enjoy playing a bit of everything (skill level: spirited amateur) and love following a wide range of sports.
