For the last ten years I've worked generally in the area of Apache Lucene (at Elastic), but not been deeply involved in the development. Over the past few months I've been focused on improving indexing performance for various analytic workloads, which motivated my PRs related to the columnar indexing effort. I'm glad that they were received positively. It has given me an avenue to engage more directly with the low-level Lucene development which I find quite interesting.
