+1. I wouldn't allow it by default though. I'd prefer having to set allowSlowFuzzyAlg or something with some good javadoc. Won't let you accidentally move from a fast alg to a slow one, but also keeps the functionality very discoverable. Having it in contrib is not as good, but okay. -1 on deprecation.
