I actually don't like the idea of making empty string work for the root context
- in pretty much all the other cases, empty string means take the default and
the default is /solr. I'd change the default to /, but it's a back compat issue
I'd rather not deal with. So it seems the best method is document a token for
this - and "." seems as good as any. We can document and visually clean it up
by removing it from the url.
