If we can confirm that is indeed the issue, we should create a JIRA issue.
For me, 4.1 seems to be faster than 3.5.0 - I have no 4.0 data to
compare against. I did think when I saw my index drop in size due to
compression that an option should be available in Solr to turn
compression off but otherwise leave the 4.1 index format alone - I would
probably not use it, but I could see instances where others might need to.
