Additional data point. I was failing almost every time (mac) with very strange 404 errors and messages like "could not find /solr/update" in the embedded tests last night and in seemingly random other places but I was rarely getting through any full test suite OK. But running the tests explicitly (-Dtestcase=) worked like a champ.
Three times running just now and no problem. Will keep running.
