Uwe, these shell commands are used because Hadoop has to run on Java 6. In
addition to 'df' it uses 'whoami' and 'ls'.
bq. There is for sure a config option, let me revisit the source code
I wish it were so ... I use a set of AspectJ hacks to remove this dependency
from Hadoop binaries to run tests on Windows.
