: Cassandra has volunteered to be my guinea pig and try acting as RM for the 4.5 : guide, to help sanity check that the process i write up makes sense & can be : executed by someone who isn't me.
FYI: I'm moving forward as RM for this doc relase since Cassandra ran into SVN authorization problems trying to commit to the "dist.apache.org" repo to update the KEYS file and to post the RC in the "dev" directory. bassed on my poking arround, it appears that the way the dist repo is setup only PMC members are allowed to commit to this repo unless they are explicitly included as in a "committers_may_release" whitelist. (i guess all of our release managers since dist got migrated to using svnpubsub have been PMC members so we haven't noticed before? I'm fairly certain the old rsync dir on people.apache.org was just setup to allow anyone in the lucene unix group to write to it.) I've got question out to the infra team to sanity check that my speculations are correct -- if i get confirmation, i'll start a DISCUSS thread to figure out if we as a project want to request a change so all committers can be release managers -Hoss --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [email protected] For additional commands, e-mail: [email protected]
