Don't take it personally, Robert. I meant it to be a sincere discussion and looking for solutions rather than aggregating flame wars. I prefer git over svn now even if I used svn for a long time (and liked it at the time). It's not the hype for me. It's not about the "new" vs. the "old". It's pragmatism: I can do many things faster and better with git than with svn. I personally found this explanation of how git works excellent and straightforward. Don't know how much it helps (or not). http://eagain.net/articles/git-for-computer-scientists/ This seems a lot easier to understand to me than SVN merge properties... but then -- perhaps I'm biased because I like graphs. :) Dawid On Fri, Jan 3, 2014 at 5:57 PM, Robert Muir <rcm...@gmail.com> wrote: > I don't see it that way. > I guess just due to the attitude surrounding git at least, that's > enough for me to press forward with my veto. > > Alternatively, you could decide that the "attitude that comes with > git" is not also coming here with it, and try to work with me and > address my specific concerns with it. e.g. maybe dawid's idea about > disabling fast-forwards completely is a good idea and so on (i dont > know all the technical implications there). and we could investigate > how the commit logs work or don't work for other projects trying to > use it and other things I mentioned. > > But if you just tell me "you are holding it wrong", then thats keeping > that shitty git attitude.
