[lucy-dev] Moving to Git

If I'm not mistaken it is already possible for Apache projects to use 
Git for the main repository. I'd really like to make this happen, 
because working with branches and SVN seems like pure insanity to me. 
For local branches, git-svn eases the pain for me, but I'm simply loathe 
to work with public branches on SVN. Other than that, SVN is dog-slow 
compared to Git (especially working with the EU mirror for Apache SVN 
which can fortunately be avoided by overriding the DNS entry in /etc/hosts).

What do you think? I'd be happy to help with anything related to make 
the transition.
