Greets, Last night, the Lucy Book Club finished our discussions of the Coursera MOOC, _The Hardware/Software Interface_. The brisk pace forced on us by following a course on a fixed schedule has been challenging, but the effort has been rewarding nevertheless.
At this point, the Book Club has nothing else in its queue, and we may go dormant for a little while. As of today, I'm the new PMC Chair of the Apache Incubator, a fairly demanding role that I have committed to for the next six months. In order to serve effectively in that capacity while maintaining my Lucy development activities, I'll need to curtail my high-level participation in the Book Club. In the meantime, I intend to update the Book Club wiki page to indicate that we're moving to an ad hoc schedule. There may well be future meetings (I have questions prepared for the 2007 paper on Amazon Dynamo), but I personally don't expect to drive things forward week-by-week while I'm IPMC chair. Kurt and I plan to read through some computer audio and DSP material, but that's going to be an informal side project at a leisurely pace and the subject matter isn't really related to Lucy in any case.
