Greets,

It's time to fire up the Lucy Book Club again! I'd like to propose
"Computer Systems: A Programmer's Perspective", and to meet at a
different time this cycle:

    Fridays 12:15 noon PDT / 19:15 GMT

Computer Systems: A Programmer's Perspective Randal E. Bryant, David
    R. O'Hallaron

This book was the supplementary text for a Coursera course we took with
the Book Club last year, "The Hardware/Software Interface". That course
wound up having too quick a pace for the Book Club -- but with a book
we'll be able to set our own pace. Nevertheless, it may be of interest
that Coursera is offering the course again starting June 30:

Earlier this year when the Book Club went through "Pro Git", I met with
Book Club people on Tuesday nights and with Eventful people during our
"lunch and learn" Fridays. It would be nice to merge the two groups --
hence the Friday afternoon time slot. So far there we have four other
Eventful people who plan to participate regularly, plus a few more who
may sit in.

If anybody on the list has suggestions as to how best to accommodate
5-10 people in one room as a single node in a Google Plus Hangout, I'd
like to hear about it. (What we usually do for video conferencing won't
integrate well with the Book Club.)
