Goodmorning all, Count me in for this as well I'm currently evaluating Mahout compared to in-house python classification/clustering code I use for my Big-Data Web application.
Unfortunately for testing I can use only my two Intel i7-12GB servers thus code snippets will be minimum or will take long time to execute for huge data. Please Isabel ( or mahout Project Manager ) contact me directly (to avoid spam for this email list) for task allocation assignment and preferred working time. I can volunteer 2 man hours daily during January ( 40 man-hours) so hope this will fill some gaps and be able to give back to you guys. As Manuel already pointed out getting people to talk about these kinds of behind the scenes information is rather tough - several solutions I know of deal with either privacy sensitive or business relevant data. So even just getting coding examples, let alone data to use in examples isn't trivial. > So, would it prove worthwhile to have something like this as a > component of the Mahout wiki? Try editing the CMS main page directly - as we've switched to it and even other committers are just about to get started with it, also feel free to write your guidelines up in Markdown format and put them in a JIRA issue. > I'm not the guy you want helping fix bugs or cleaning up code but I > spend my days with "boots on the ground" implementation of Mahout in a > Fortune 15 organization and I have to believe there are others out > there in my position looking for help on how to integrate Mahout into > their operations. Honestly this is a very valuable contribution to the project! Isabel
