I actually see this behavior too on occasion -- hanging on write to HDFS in front-end.
So i am looking into it. Working hypothesis is that It is front-end hadoop dependencies of course during hdfs moves and renames that front end is doing once all partitions are generated. Backend seems to be able to write files just fine.
