Good to hear I guess more of us should do that. Lots of projects are moving their entire support effort to SO because you get more cross pollination. If the questions is partly about hadoop you also get those people to help—sort of system wide help for projects with lots of integration points
Also activity of github and SO make the project more visible. So much of Mahout is deeply technical but at the job level SO may be where the potential users are. The great thing about OSS is the (relative) lack of marketing blather but there is nothing wrong with being visible. The guy with the recommender evaluation question posted on both so it was an easy matter to copy-paste answer on both. I guess I’ll listen to both and answer wherever they post.
