I am (obviously) ok with this commit. Perhaps it is worth to see if there
are more bugs or pitfals with this, i obviously did not do a due diligence.
Maybe add a few more tests doing stuff with non-int keys.
it also (obviously) does not define behavior for cases of duplicate non-int
keys, but i guess we can iron out these corner cases as we go if that's indeed
a problem.
