Hello Everyone in the Apache Mahout Community, I am Vedansh, a second-year student at IIT BHU, passionate about open-source development and software engineering. I am eager to contribute to Apache Mahout and collaborate with the community to improve the project.
I have experience working with Java, Python, C, C++, JavaScript, TypeScript, React.js, Next.js, Express.js, Node.js, HTML, CSS, EJS, MongoDB, SQL, Tailwind CSS, Bootstrap, Git, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Docker, and Kubernetes (currently learning). I have contributed to various open-source projects, focusing on improving usability, documentation, and adding new features. I am currently working on improving the issue and pull request templates for Apache Mahout to streamline contributions and ensure clarity in issue reporting. If there are any specific guidelines or preferences for these templates, I would appreciate any feedback. Additionally, I am interested in working on "Refactoring the Website" as part of Google Summer of Code 2025. To ensure my contributions align with the community’s goals, I would love insights on the following: - What are the key issues on the website that need improvement? - Are there specific design or technology preferences I should follow? - What is the best way to start contributing (beginner-friendly issues, documentation updates, etc.)?
