Committed patches, with some changes and build support, to the branch.
r1379961. Still needed: tests (at least a UI test), and internationalization
support for the LDAP connector.
Maciej, if you could build this branch and confirm that it all works as
expected for you, that would be great. If you want to supply the required
tests and internationalization changes, that's fine, otherwise I will try to do
it during the coming week.
